Design station in the former engine shed

The renovation and structural conversion of the locomotive shed into the SwissKrono Group's training and competence center took around two years. The building was named "monument of the month" in 2023.

"The slimline window system was used to replace the rudimentary industrial glazing that was still present in some parts of the building," explains project manager Axel Kaun from Mittelbach architects in Stralsund. "Only slimline steel systems such as Janisol Arte could be used here, with a view to reproducing of the building’s historical appearance as accurately as possible." VISS-Linea (support profiles) and VISS Facade (transoms) were used for the facades and interior walls.
