Pulse, Delft University of Technology, NL
The latest university building "Pulse" creates new connections on the campus and the university, once again, sets new standards. For the facade, the architects from Ector Hoogstad Architecten opted for the VISS SG all-glass facade in structural glazing construction. The stability of the steel profiles allows for particularly filigree interior views. Large-format glass surfaces measure up to 3.5 x 2.4 metres, visibly increasing the transparency of the building envelope. The facade can be partially opened so that the cafeteria on the ground floor melts into the square. The pivot doors rotate around a slightly offset vertical axis. In this way, the massive weight of these floor-to-ceiling facade elements of 475 kilograms can be optimally supported statically and a particularly inviting gesture can be created.
