The winners have been chosen from a list of 532 works from 41 countries: The Architecture Award 2022 goes to the project "Town House - Kingston University" in London, UK, by Grafton Architects (Ireland). The winner of the Emerging Architecture 2022 is the project "La Borda - Cooperative Housing" in Barcelona, Spain, by Lacol (Barcelona).
In addition to the award ceremony, the event also included three discussions and project presentations. Models, texts, videos, sketches and drawings of the five finalists, the 40 shortlisted works and an overview of all 532 nominees were presented. An integral part of the event was the EUmies Awards 2022 exhibition, which started on 1 May and closed with the EUmies Award Day on 12 May.
The prize has been realigned and now comprises the three areas 'Architecture Prize', 'Emerging Architect' and the 'Young Talent Architect Award (YTAA); the latter is awarded every two years. Jansen is a sponsoring partner of the EUmies Award, which is presented by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation. The two buildings 'Gare Maritime' (BE) and LocHal Public Library (NL), for which Jansen was the supplier of the VISS facade steel system, were nominated in the shortlist of 40 projects.
