All eyes on Graz
A serviced apartment building for short-term and long-term guests is currently being built in Graz’s old town according to a design by Zaha Hadid. With ARGOS, the Iraqi-British architect prevailed against ten renowned competitors. The jury saw Hadid’s design as a “contemporary response to the neighbouring Gründerzeit building”. Thanks to the equally contemporary Janisol Arte 2.0 steel profile, it was possible to realise the Argus eyes on the building in the filigree style desired by the architect.
Metallbau Sauritschnig was able to make this idea reality thanks to Janisol Arte 2.0, the narrowest thermally separated steel profile available on the market. The window elements with the openable hinged sashes were fitted in a cut-out finished to millimetre precision in the glazing enclosing the room and fixed in place with glazing beads. The fact that the 48 hinged sashes had to be manufactured with rounded corners was another challenge that Sauritschnig mastered with ease thanks to Janisol Arte 2.0 – the profile can also be bent easily.
