Historic site given a new lease of life
A new development has been constructed on the site of the former Wannenthal window factory, with the project conceived as an homage to the previous industrial building. The project offers loft-style living with open floor plans. Janisol Arte steel profiles underline the industrial character and complement it with contemporary comfort and function. The architects were faced with the major challenge of giving an entirely new structure the appearance of having grown organically over time and creating attractive apartments in the process.
The distinctive windows are made from steel with continuous glazing bars in minimal face widths. The profiles have a matt black powder-coated surface. In terms of their structure and arrangement, the windows look like historical elements, but meet modern functional requirements in terms of technology and efficiency. To achieve this combination, Wüst Metallbau AG used steel profiles from Janisol Arte 2.0. They allowed the developers to achieve the desired rough industrial look, whilst at the same time creating a modern living atmosphere with a high level of climatic comfort. Janisol profiles with a u-value of up to 2.7 W/m2K and triple insulating glass panes with a total thickness of 40 millimetres (u-value 0.6 W/m2K) were used on all 38 windows.
